Cyber Security Management (CSM):

This category focuses on the development and maintenance of a cyber security program, including the implementation of security policies, procedures, and standards

1

Electronic Security Perimeter (ESP):

This category focuses on the protection of the BES from unauthorized access by implementing security controls at the electronic security perimeter

2

Physical Security (PS):

This category focuses on the protection of critical assets from physical threats such as natural disasters, vandalism, and theft.

3

System Security Management (SSM)

This category focuses on the protection of the BES from unauthorized access, modification, or disruption through the implementation of security controls on BES cyber systems

4

Incident Reporting and Response (IRR):

This category focuses on the identification, reporting, and response to cyber security incidents that may threaten the integrity of the BES.

The CIP standards also require regular reporting and compliance assessments to ensure that the EPI is meeting the requirements and effectively protecting its critical assets.
