Sectrio

Weekly threat monitor: November 15th

Cyberattacks across industries except oil and gas and manufacturing registered dips this week. The attacks on these two sectors registered a small rise which is again the lowest rise we have registered in over 40 weeks.

The reduction in cyberattacks may not indicate a long term trend. Hackers may just be studying the impact of new malware and variants launched in 2021 as the year draws to a close or may simply be recalibrating their breach tactics and strategies. We cannot draw a conclusion on the cause for the reduction in cyberattacks yet till we see the emergence of a pattern.

We at Sectrio feel that these attacks will rise again in the days to come as we have seen many times before. Weekly dips in IoT and OT cyberattacks are just periods of momentary lull sometimes such periods are followed by intense activity for weeks together as hackers strike at will.
